One cannot change the world, without first the world changing them.
I grew up in a small south Texas town where there were no stop lights and only one gas station. Tiny as it may be, there was infinite room for exploration and growth in the health and fitness industry in Inez. Exercise and overall well-being has always been important to me, from as far back as I can remember. I chased the family dogs in open fields, attempted to ride horses, climbed trees, and took dips in our neighbor’s pond.
Fast forward to junior high and high school where I fell in love with football, track, and power lifting. ‘Obsessed’ describes my then pursuit to become the best athlete, person, and future coach that I could possibly be.
I began CrossFit in June of 2011 and have been hooked ever since. Soon after my first WOD, I got the itch to learn more about CrossFit, its methodologies, and its culture. I took my L-1 Certification that fall and began coaching shortly after. My passion for coaching grew to the point where I could no longer be kept out of the box. My fitness journey has been life changing and CrossFit has opened up doors to many other things, such as competitive Weightlifting, coaching, and even becoming one of the first ever GRID league athletes.
Opposite of being a competitor, I have coached one athlete to a national-level weightlifting meet and would consider this my biggest accomplishment of all! I firmly believe that the impact an athlete can make on a community pales in comparison to that of a good coach. As a coach, my goal is to empower others by teaching them how to become stronger, healthier, and move better for a lifetime.
