My introduction to CrossFit was through the video Nasty Girls. From that moment on I was hooked. I always say there are two types of people, those who see CrossFit and run the other way or those who see it and aren’t quite sure why, but they have to be a part of it.
CrossFit is my competitive sport
I’ve played sports my whole life and after college this was my competitive outlet. As much as I enjoy the sport of CrossFit, I quickly found that I enjoyed the development side even more. To be able to help someone accomplish something that they haven’t done in years—or ever—is the reward. The excitement people get when they reach their goals is why I do what I do.
I want to help people be the best version of themselves they can be. I’m very up front from the beginning. I will tell you what needs to be done, how we’re going to do it and what I expect from people. It’s easy. (1) Show up consistently, (2) work hard and (3) keep the complaining very minimal. Hard work is always right.
I’ve been involved in CrossFit for six years now. From what I like to call the early years. CrossFit has seen a lot of growth in that six years not only on the sport side, but on the coaching side as well. I’ve learned so much in that area from mentors, books, blogs, seminars and videos. I know that there’s still so much more for me to soak up and that is what drives me. There’s not a magic formula and there’s no right way to do things, only learn and apply.
