Pistol Progressions

Kati Breazeal​ demonstrates three Pistol Progressions that will make your life easier.

When training any pistol progression, there are two important things to remember:

1) Shifting your body weight— Make sure you’re shifting weight into the leg you’re standing up on. It’s important to be able to find your balance, while still building enough strength to finish the rep.

2) Move through a full range of motion— When training pistol progressions, it’s important to start moving your body through a full range of motion, in order to prepare your muscles, tendons, and ligaments for the movement. The pistol requires a high level of ankle and knee mobility, and it’s important that you introduce this range of motion slowly and safely, before every just jumping in, and trying an Rx’d pistol.
